Legislative Session Updates
Tuesday marked Crossover, the halfway point of Virginia’s legislative session! At this stage, all bills must have passed their chamber of origin to stay alive. Those that made it through will now head to the opposite chamber for another round of committee hearings and floor votes—while those that didn’t are effectively done for the session.
We’re thrilled to share that all our priority bills have advanced! This includes our top two priorities:
✅ The Constitutional Amendment for Reproductive Freedom
✅ The Contraceptive Equity Act
We’ve also been following other key legislation that passed, including the Reproductive and Gender-Affirming Care Protection Act, the Extradition Prohibition Bill, and the Consumer Protection Act—all of which help strengthen healthcare access, privacy, and protections for our communities.
And in more great news: Every anti-trans, anti-immigrant, and anti-abortion bill failed or was never even docketed—thanks to the tireless efforts of our partners across the state!
This is your victory. Your calls, emails, and advocacy made this possible, and we are so grateful for your dedication. But we’re not done yet—these bills still need to make it through the next round.
